Ed Toups is a Best Selling and Award Winning Author, CEO and founder of GuideDogData.com and was the founder of the first entrepreneur center in post Katrina New Orleans, Office Ready llc. He's highly regarded in the entrepreneurial community and has recently turned his attention toward solving the fundamental question, "What can we do to naturally feel more energized and healthy so we can live more fulfilled and productive lives?"
"It breaks my heart to see smart, capable people struggle to contribute how they want to contribute because they "don't feel right", are "exhausted all the time" or have pain and ailments that are a total disruption to their lives...I've seen this with strangers, clients and important people in my life and it hurts every time..."
The fact is, Ed was one of these people too. Ed learned it's the seemingly little things that ultimately have the most meaning and lasting impact on a person's life. Similarly, it's the little things we do each day that make some of the most profound gains in life too..."little hinges swing big doors" as they say.
Whether in entrepreneurship or health, Ed's driving cause is to remove the seemingly insurmountable obstacles people face so they can achieve their greatest potential and become who they inspire to be. That's a tall order. It isn't always easy.
Ed believes nothing stands in the way of fulfillment, contentment, achievement, production, creativity and success more than one's health and how one feels...get it wrong and everything feels impossible...dial that in and anything is possible.
With all this in mind, Ed realized food plays a starring role in how we feel. Whether in a good way or bad way, the food we put in our body is one of those "little hinges" that packs a punch. But not how you're thinking or how we've been taught.
We all understand some foods makes us feel good while other foods make us feel bad. Coffee makes people jazzed up while thanksgiving turkey makes us tired and sleepy.
Here's the thing, EVERY food we eat has a "how it makes YOU feel" story. When you know the story of how it makes YOUR body feel, you control everything. Your production increases. Your career and earnings increase. And you're able to enjoy your time with family and friends so much more.
Every food we eat has a story...some foods enter our body and are like super motivators...they give our mitochondria all the nutrients they need to power us...while other foods are like anchors in our blood stream...they wreak havoc on our systems, sap our energy and make us feel and look horrible.
What most don't realize is each an every food they eat falls somewhere on a spectrum...a spectrum of "feels good and energized" on one side and "feels bad and drained" on the other.
Some 'health food' will make us feel drained and awful. While some 'junk food' will seemingly have no negative impact at all.
The spectrum is unique to each of us and is determined by genetics, heredity, gut biome, stress, illness, damage in the digestive track and host of other variables.
The hundreds and hundreds of different foods we eat each week fall somewhere on this spectrum...there's an order to it, there's a pattern for each of us. This pattern (or story) of each food is unique to you and only you.
Over several years, Ed collected data from people all over. After looking at 22,460 days of data of how people felt...good days and bad days, combined with over 137,520 foods they ate on those days [that's over 61 years of data by the way], Ed discovered each and every one of us has a unique spectrum of good to bad foods...
And when you know which are the foods that make you feel bad...you're in the driver's seat.
How you feel impacts everything you do, right? Ed realized something as simple as a food has a profound impact on our relationship to families, friends, actives, hobbies, careers, income, quality of life...everything.
So the question is, which foods are good and which are bad? That's the trick, determining which food is the trigger for you.
The answers are in the data.
Long story short...Ed set out to find a way so that anyone could discover their "kryptonite foods" so they could transform how they feel and allow them to transform their lives.
In 2014, Ed began to piece together a tool for those whose energy levels, mental focus and other "ailments" like headaches or stomachaches were holding them back from reaching their full potential.
He wanted to help those who's doctors couldn't find the answers. Those who traditional medicine seemed to dismiss. Those who were told things like, "there's nothing wrong with you," when obviously something was very wrong. Or "it's all in your head". Or "you'll just have to learn to live with it." Or "it's only stress." Or "it's just part of getting older."
Ed was "dismissed" by traditional ways of thinking about ailments and felt there must be a better way. He realized each of us are unique and the answers to the mystery lies in the data of a person's life. He was compelled to share the solution.
Following the successful alpha test launch (August 2015)...One of Ed's most ambitious passion projects to date, GuideDogData.com officially entered beta testing in August 2016.
There are millions of people in the U.S. alone who suffer with a slew of symptoms, yet no one seems to be able to find the source of the problem...their test results appear fine, yet they suffer from chronic pain, fatigue, digestive issues, skin issues, anxiety or over 150 different symptoms that totally disrupt their lives.
Ed's mission is to help transform 100,000 lives by finding the source of their pain. In addition he hopes to provide 1,000 practitioners and health coaches from around the world the tool they need to pinpoint and unravel the mysteries behind their clients' most chronic ailments.
The Trigger Finding Tool is designed for "biohackers" and individuals who suffer with health problems no one has been able to solve or people who simply want to skyrocket their energy. Mystery symptoms include fatigue, headaches, digestive issues, anxiety, skin problems, joint and muscle pain and over 150 other symptoms.
The pro-tool is designed specifically for integrative, holistic and functional health practitioners and coaches to help with their most challenging client cases.
Early Career:
In 2013 Ed was selected to co-author Dan Kennedy's much anticipated business and marketing book, Stand Apart. Ed shared the page with business legend Dan Kennedy, self-made internet genius, Mike Koenigs, and longtime Tony Robbin’s right hand “man”, Pam Hendrickson along with other experts from around the world. Ed was honored with the Editor's Choice Award for his outstanding contribution to the book. Stand Apart released in January 2014 with a BANG...the book quickly reached Best-Seller status in 4 categories: Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Direct Marketing and Sales. Ed was named New Orleans Urban Legend of the year in 2012, and was recognized with a prestigious New Orleans City Council Proclamation in 2013 for his charitable contributions to the Back to School kids programs. In November of 2013 Ed appeared on WWLTV's CBS Morning Show with Sally-Ann Roberts and celebrity artist/philanthropist Marlin Miller. Ed donated one of a pair of 25 year old live oaks many determine to be the largest and oldest ever given to the City of New Orleans. In May of 2013, the city was set to cut down a 200 year old Bayou St. John oak tree that was stuck and killed by a bolt of lightning. Ed had a vision to transform the tree into a beautiful 30 foot sculpture to serve as a symbol of life and transformation for the surrounding neighborhoods devastated by the flood waters of Hurricane Katrina. Ed recommended Marlin Miller, the famed Mississippi sculptor to be the artist...Jared Zeller and Armand from Mothership Foundation saw the possibilities too and made it happen. You can enjoy Marlin's 30 foot sculpture along Bayou St. John near Orleans Ave. (see photo on the right bottom). Ed has become known for his ability to get big results for businesses. With his advice and guidance, Ed has been instrumental in achieving top 3,395 most trafficked website in the United States and top 15,149 most trafficked in the world {note: In 2014 there were over 972,341,000 websites world wide} with over 20 million page views and over 3.5 million visits a month as determined by industry authorities Alexa.com and Google.com. Ed is also recognized for his skill in converting site visitors into active followers… building lists from several thousand to over 100,000 responsive and engaged communities. He does this by building highly effective multi-step email and marketing campaigns readers love to receive that are written with a casual down-home appeal. It’s easy to get lost and overwhelmed in the technical jungle of a modern day business, but Ed has the uncanny ability to bridge the gap between this fairly technical experience and his local small business owner and online niche entrepreneurial roots. Early on, Ed discovered most entrepreneurs need only a few tweaks here and there to have the lifestyle and business success they dream of. Ed’s laid-back style combined with his knack for seeing the path of least resistance along with his no-nonsense approach for seizing and executing “low hanging fruit” opportunities have helped him and his clients get the results they want...quickly. Ed makes things simple for clients who feel “stuck” and not getting the results they expect but are ready and anxious to make a LEAP forward in their business careers. Ed learned first hand in the Small Business and Internet business trenches that you don’t have to be wealthier, work more hours, work harder or even be smarter than everyone else to have success in the modern world…you just need the foresight to know where you want to be and simply make the wise decisions that lead you there. When consulting with business owners and online entrepreneurs, Ed collaborates with them to create the most effective offline and online plan-of-action and outlines the step by step tactics and strategies needed to get the profits and results they want.
